Woven Throws

 Jacob woven throw

Jacob woven throw

Our warm and durable Shepherd’s Check pattern Jacob woven wool throws are made of natural color wool from our sheep pastured in Woolwich Township, Gloucester County,  New Jersey.  To make these throws, fleeces were sheared from our flock in the spring.  Because Jacob sheep are spotted, each sheep produces white and natural color wool (gray or lilac, black, or black-faded-to-chocolate by the sun.)   After shearing, the fleeces were separated by hand into their white and color parts.  The wool was washed and spun into yarn using a green, non-chemical process, and woven using antique woolen mill technology. The throw is approximately 63” x 43” excluding fringe; Color: chocolate and vanilla…………………………………………………………………………………. $ 225.00

 Horned Dorset Throw

Horned Dorset Throw

Our warm and durable Basket Weave Blocks pattern Dorset Horn woven wool throws are made of natural color wool from our sheep pastured in Woolwich Township, Gloucester County,  New Jersey.  To make these throws, fleeces were sheared from our flock in the spring.  After shearing, the wool was washed and spun into yarn, then woven using antique woolen mill technology.  The throw is approximately 60” x 42” excluding fringe;  Color: cream………………………………………………. $180.00

The throws are washable.  We recommend washing in the washing machine in cold water on a gentle cycle (hand wash or delicate cycle), 6 minutes with Biopac laundry liquid (or comparable product designed for wool), then hang dry or lay flat to dry.

You can also soak your woolen throw in a tub or in the washer; then spin dry low speed in the washing machine or hang dry or lay flat to dry.  If using a tub, you may use Woolite.  Avoid extreme agitation, temperature, and detergent. (Because Woolite is a detergent, you should not use it with your throw in the washer, but in the tub is okay.)  Postage, insurance and tax will be added to all throw purchases.  We will calculate them for you.

Raw, Well-Skirted Fleeces for Hand-spinners from our award-winning flock

We have won numerous awards at many sheep shows, including the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival, for the quality of our hand-spinning fleeces.  Our hand-spinning fleeces are selected with the hand-spinner in mind and are heavily skirted.   Fleece prices depend on sheep breed and weight.  Our Jacob fleeces are $15 per pound and range between 2 to 5 pounds each.  Our Dorset Horn and Dorset Horn X fleeces are $9 per pound and average about 6 pounds.  Our Leicester Longwool and Leicester crosses (Leicester Longwool, Border Leicester, Wensleydale), cost $10 per pound and usually weigh between 5 and 10 pounds.
