ART ON THE FARM

Spend the morning or afternoon on our livestock farm creating art en plein air (French for “in the open air”) with your sketchbook, paint brushes or camera. Pasture, woodland, a garden, mature trees, wetlands, water, and a barn surround the 229 year old farmhouse providing inspiring views and a calming reprieve from stress as sheep and poultry graze nearby. After a brief tour to introduce you to the farm, you will be free to find a spot to settle in and create. In addition to your creativity, bring lunch or snacks, art supplies, easel, a sturdy stool or chair, and a portable table. Please wear sturdy, closed and comfortable outdoor shoes that you don’t mind getting soiled (this is a livestock farm). Wi-Fi is not available (take the day off from technology!) Our homemade Black Walnut Ink and other farm products will be available for purchase in The Farm Shop. Bottled water, hand sanitizer and wipes will be provided. Sorry, there are no public restrooms. There are wonderful restaurants within walking distance or a short drive from the farm. We can schedule you for a weekday or weekend and will reschedule in case of inclement weather. Ages 18 and up.

WRITERS ON THE FARM

Begin your novel, finish that short story, pen a poem. Bring your laptop, notebook or journal, a cozy, sturdy chair to sit on, and spend a morning or afternoon on our livestock farm. After a brief tour to introduce you to the farm, you will be free to find a spot to settle in and create. In addition to your creativity, bring lunch or snacks. DISCLAIMER

Stratton Hall 1794 is a livestock farm. Visitors will be standing and walking on natural surfaces that may not be level. Fallen nuts, stones, rocks, and twigs may be underfoot, as well as holes dug by chickens, and tunnels and holes dug by groundhogs, moles, voles, and other wildlife. Please wear sturdy, closed and comfortable outdoor shoes that you won’t mind getting soiled. Please dress for the weather conditions. Seating opportunities are limited so visitors may want to bring a sturdy folding chair or stool. Some events and tours are not wheelchair accessible. Please inquire about accessibility before scheduling a tour or event or purchasing tickets. For the safety of our visitors, as well as the safety of our sheep and poultry, no dogs are permitted at any of our events or tours.
