In late summer and during the fall, as the hours of sunlight shorten, our free-range chickens and ducks molt, or lose their old feathers, and regrow new ones for the approaching winter season. Our chicken breeds include Buff Orpington, Dominique, Easter Egger, Lace Wyandotte, Leghorn, and Welsummer. Our ducks are fawn & white and chocolate Indian Runners. The best naturally-molted feathers are hand-gathered. We soak them in a 50/50 mix of hydrogen peroxide and isopropyl alcohol, then wash them with soap and, finally, give them a clean water rinse before drying and restoring their natural shape with a small brush. Our feathers are cruelty-free, natural, come in a variety of colors and sizes, and are ready to use.They are suitable for many uses and crafts including feather headbands, festival hair accessories, jewelry, earrings, costumes, dreamcatchers, fishing, millinery, and pet feather extensions.

The feathers shown in the photos are illustrative examples of what you may expect to receive. If you have a specific color preference contact us and we will do our best to accommodate your request. Our birds have worn these feathers for a year so expect minor imperfections due to normal wear.
