TO SCHEDULE YOUR TOUR. To schedule a farm tour for you, your family or group, call the farm at 856-430-1208. You will see and learn about our heritage breeds of sheep, chickens and ducks, and our black walnut trees on all tours. You will also have the option to walk to the shore of Raccoon Creek for beautiful seasonal views on all tours. In addition, each tour highlights a particular topic. When you call to schedule your tour, let us know which tour you want to take. Available tour topics are listed below.
CHILDREN. Children must be aged 5 or older. Children must be accompanied by parent/guardian.
TOUR FEE. Tour fees are payable in cash when you arrive: $10 – ages 14 and up; $5 ages 5 – 13. We do not accept bills in denominations larger than $20.
WHEN. Tours can be scheduled from mid-March through October. Tours can be booked for a weekday or weekend, morning or afternoon, and begin on the hour between the hours of 10 AM and 3 PM. In case of inclement weather, your tour will be rescheduled. A tour lasts approximately 1.5 hours. Hand sanitizer and wipes will be available. Sorry, there are no public restrooms.
Women of Stratton Hall Farm Tour: As you tour the farm, your guide will introduce you to the women who lived at Stratton Hall in the 18th and 19th centuries.
Dr. Stratton’s House Farm Tour: As you tour the farm, your guide will introduce you to Dr. James Stratton, the man who commissioned the building of Stratton Hall. Learn about his life and the building of this historic house.
The Governor Stratton Farm Tour: As you tour the farm, your guide will introduce you to Gov. Charles C. Stratton. Gov. Stratton is the only Gloucester County resident – to date – to serve as governor of New Jersey. Learn about his life and accomplishments.
The Amazing Black Walnut: (this is a fall only tour) Learn about this valuable native tree that produces fine furniture grade lumber, dye, ink, and delicious, nutritious nuts.
DISCLAIMER
Stratton Hall 1794 is a livestock farm. Visitors will be standing and walking on natural surfaces that may not be level. Fallen nuts, stones, rocks, and twigs may be underfoot, as well as holes dug by chickens, and tunnels and holes dug by groundhogs, moles, voles, and other wildlife. Please wear sturdy, closed and comfortable outdoor shoes that you won’t mind getting soiled. Please dress for the weather conditions. Seating opportunities are limited so visitors may want to bring a sturdy folding chair or stool. Some events and tours are not wheelchair accessible. Please inquire about accessibility before scheduling a tour or event or purchasing tickets. For the safety of our visitors, as well as the safety of our sheep and poultry, no dogs are permitted at any of our events or tours.
